♕ I won Miss Indo-Canadian Princess 2015-2016!

About three months ago, I met a very nice woman, who told me that I should at least try…

Kisme participate karoon???” (“What should I participate in?”), I asked.

Arre, there is a pageant. A beauty competition. But it doesn’t only see your beauty. It also sees your talent, your poise, how you present yourself, and everything. I’m sure you will do well in it,” she said to me.

“Aunty ji… no no, I don’t think I should do it.”

“Beti, you should do it, main aapko bata rahi hoon. Aap woh try toh karo” (“Daughter, you should do it, I’m telling you. You should at least try.”)

I filled out the application form and sent it in. I had no idea that from there, I would be catapulted into this new position of ambassadorship for the National Association of Indo-Canadians. I’m looking forward to such a great year with the Association and all its community partners and friends, sharing my love of dance, the arts, and the two great cultures of my two favourite countries, India and Canada. Photos from the pageant are below.
